Adobe is doing right by the artists who created all this valuable content, too. Even though you’re getting access to 1+ million unwater marked, world-class assets at no cost to you, Adobe still makes sure the artists are getting paid for providing it. So, you can use these assets in all of your personal, business, or commercial projects with the peace of mind that you are sourcing content ethically and respecting the artist community. But again, you pay nothing.
No credit card is required to access and download any of these Stock assets. All that you need is a free Adobe ID, if you don’t already have one. Here’s a quick one-minute video review of the free portfolio.
What is Adobe Stock?
Adobe Stock is one of the world’s biggest image libraries, providing more than 200 million files in total. These include stock photographs, video clips, animations, illustrators, icons, templates, 3D models, audio clips, and other assets for you to license, royalty-free.
You don’t have to have a Creative Cloud subscription or use any Adobe apps to use Adobe Stock. You just need to sign up with a free Adobe ID.
How to download Adobe Stock for free
Although most of Adobe Stock’s assets need to be paid for, there are more than 78,000 Adobe Stock files available for anyone to download for free. And we do mean free. You don’t need to give any credit card details to access them, nor take out a subscription to either Adobe Stock or the Creative Cloud. You just need to create an Adobe ID for free.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to access a variety of free assets to download here (opens in new tab). You’ll find free photos, vectors, videos, design templates, 3D assets, and motion graphics templates, including work by recipients of Adobe Stock’s Artist Development Fund.
You can browse these free Adobe Stock files by category or topic. All of these free images are cleared for commercial use, and are royalty-free.
Adobe stock price
Adobe Stock assets can be bought directly from within Creative Cloud desktop apps such as Photoshop and Illustrator, or via the website stock.adobe.com ( opens in new tab). However, you can’t just pay for a single asset, you have to pay for a bunch of them at once. There are two methods of doing so.
Option 1 is to buy a credit pack. These allow you to download packs of five, 16, 40, 80 or 150 credits. The bigger the pack, the cheaper each credit gets.
So for example, the cheapest package gets you five credits for $49.95 / £29.95 / AU$54.95, which works out as $9.99 / £5.99 / AU$10.99 each, while the most expensive pack gets you 150 credits for $1,200 / £600 / AU$1,308.99, which means you’re paying just $8 / £4 / AU$8.72 each
Just to make things a little more complicated, different assets cost a different number of credits. So you can buy standard images and templates for just one credit, whereas videos cost between 8 and 12 credits each, and premium images start at 12 credits each.
You’ll find all the pricing information for your region here (opens in new tab).

Use stock images in your Photoshop documents
Adobe Stock is deeply integrated with Creative Cloud Libraries. You can add a watermarked stock asset to any of your libraries directly using the Adobe Stock website. You can then use the watermarked asset in your Photoshop documents as a library-linked asset.
When you choose to license the asset—which you can do directly from within Photoshop—all instances of the watermarked asset in your open documents are updated to the high-resolution licensed asset.
